About a week before Easter I started sewing like a mad woman. I made the little onesies I mentioned in the previous post and I made totes for each of my kids and a cute little owl for my baby to suck on. I made the totes with this tutorial and the owl with this one. I also made two taggie blankets with this tutorial but I never did take pictures of those. Grief! You would think it was Christmas right. Nope, just Easter. I guess I enjoy a little stress during the holidays or I'm just crazy. Maybe a little of both. Those cute fabric roses on Heidi's tote are made with this tutorial.
I love these totes although they are too big for children. I wish I would have made the dimensions smaller. However, if you are going to make one make sure you buy at least 1 and 1/4 yards not just one like the pattern suggests. I didn't have quite enough fabric for each one and had to get creative and turn to my scrap pile which made for a cuter bag though, don't you think.

My new diaper bag!
I tried out this new tutorial on Izzy and Ivy. They have such cute stuff. You must all go check them out. I'm excited about my new tote. If I were to make it again. I would probably make more pockets since I'm using it as a diaper bag. It's sooo much cuter than my yucky old black diaper bag. Here's me trying out the fabric on my couch. What do you think? Pillows? It looks bright and fun. I need something to remind that spring is close at hand. This bag would be great as a library tote for my kids. I'm thinking possible Easter gift.

Pinks and greens
I just finished this beautiful baby quilt last night. I love the vibrant colors and all the yummy fabrics. It measures 37x41 inches. I think it will look great as a car seat cover or even a throw over the back of a rocking chair. It's nice and cuddling too because of the soft pink flannel on the back. I hope my soon-to-come niece likes it. No tutorial link this time because this quilt is all me baby!New project on the horizon. Can you guess what this awesome fabric is for? I kind of want to go buy more because I think it would be great for pillows in my living room but no, it's not for pillows.

Recipe Card Holder
My sister turned 25 yesterday and earlier this month she joined the ranks of wifedom. She was having a party in her new apartment yesterday at 7:00 and at 2:00 I finally decided what I wanted to give to her for her birthday. Just a simple recipe card holder with some tried and trued favorite recipes of mine. I hope she enjoys them.

Goals
I had two goals for today. Plan a primary activity- check. And cut my 5 inch squares for a baby quilt - check. Only one problem, when I was cutting my fabric it turned out that I didn't have enough fabric to do all 5 inch squares. So half are 5 inch squares and the other half and 3.5 x 5 inch rectangles. Now to make up a new design. What do you think?
Oh the fun of taking pictures with this little guy around. Good thing he's cute.

Projects
At the beginning of January I was longing for a project to do. Well ask and you shall receive lots and lots to do. If only it was only sewing projects I had to do.
Here's what I'm working on right now:
Cute Happy Campers fabric for my siggy swap:
Some Katie Jump Rope:
And some Cute Pie:
I love those names. Have you ever bought fabric just because it had a cute name? I have.
This lovely collection of pink and green fabrics is for a very special baby girl due in only 5 short weeks. I'd better get working.
I'm loving these birds.
And this soft pink flannel is to go on the back of my daughter's quilt I've been making for her bed. She is getting very impatient to have it done. I'm feeling the pressure. Find tutorial on crazy mom quilts.
So what projects are you working on?

Baby boy ragged quilt
I've got a ton of stuff planned to make but until I get the fabric to make it I'm going to show past projects.
This is a quilt I made for a friend that had a baby boy. I found the tutorial here.
Super simple quilting. I love the design it makes on the back. I'm kinda thinking I want to make another one now. :)
And cute star binding.

Pinwheel tutorial
Do you wanna know how to make a pinwheel? There are lots of great tutorials on the web. I've learned everything I know about how to quilt from a tutorial here and a tutorial there. How did I ever survive without the internet?
Here's my favorite one on pinwheels: http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2008/09/so-its-quilt-month-over-at-mr.html

Lizzy
Don't you all love Crazy Mom Quilts?! When I was pregnant with my little girl I found this tutorial and just had to make one for my new little one. I love it. It's a few months old now and I love that the more I wash it the softer it gets. It was also my first time using my new quilting foot on my machine so don't look too closely at the back.
Some green leafy binding.
A strip of patchwork across the back.
I love the quilt but I still think the baby is cuter!

Pinwheels
My dear sister is getting married in one short week. This is a quilt I made for her. Don't you love polka dot binding?! I think it's beautiful and I hope she enjoys a lot of cuddling with her new husband under it.
The back is actually a twin size flat sheet that I added some patchwork to.
Welcome!
Welcome to my blog about my adventures in sewing and learning to sew. During the day I'm a full time mom and in the evening when my babies are asleep I get to create (if I'm not drop dead tired). I have a private family blog where I have posted everything from stuff about the kids to food to quilts I've made. I thought it would be fun to publicly dedicate a blog just to my sewing and crafting and hopefully start an exciting new journey.
